How To Do Full Coverage Makeup That Looks Natural

Although 75% of the time I find myself gravitating towards light “barely there” makeup, I do love a full coverage makeup look from time to time. Especially for date night or when a breakout is plaguing me, a full coverage makeup application comes in clutch! So today I wanted to share this complete guide for my best tips to do full coverage makeup including:

  • best products for full coverage makeup looks

  • my favorite brushes for full coverage makeup

  • how to find the right makeup shades for the best coverage

  • how to do full coverage makeup that still looks natural

If you are a beauty minimalist like me then I know you’re going to love this blog post because I’m going to show you how to do a full coverage makeup look that you love while also letting your natural beauty shine AND not spending an hour in front of the mirror. So let’s get into it!

The Best Products For Full Coverage Makeup Looks

I know when it comes to makeup, there are literally a thousand options out there and it can be super overwhelming. But if you are here reading this blog post then chances are good you have at least heard of Seint Beauty or have even tried it. This is the makeup brand I have used and loved for over 7 years (2 of those were before the artist program even existed.) The reason I exclusively use and recommend Seint Beauty makeup is mainly because of three reasons:

  1. Cream-based makeup products offer the best coverage while looking natural

  2. Empty customizable makeup palettes for simplified makeup and less waste

  3. Affordable yet high quality makeup products

Because of these reasons, I really do believe the best products for full coverage makeup can all be found with Seint Beauty and for well under $100. The best part is that when I personally shade match someone- I typically only recommend 2-3 foundation (highlight) shades. For most people, that really is enough to achieve the full coverage makeup they are looking for no matter what kind of acne, redness, under-eye darkness, or dark spots they are trying to conceal. I’ll talk more later on on how/where to apply these highlight shades and how to get the perfect shade match!

The Best Brushes For Full Coverage Makeup

So now that we’ve talked about the best makeup products for full coverage makeup, let’s dive into brushes! This is the next crucial step that I think a lot of us tend to forget about. A good quality makeup brush (and the right type) can make a wild difference in how well your makeup application goes. For full coverage makeup, I honestly only use 2 different brushes. I use the Buff brush and the Smudge brush which you can shop here.

These makeup brushes are double-sided so you’re getting a good value and more versatility with them. For full coverage makeup, you want a dense, fairly large brush for all over application and a smaller dense brush for spot concealing. That’s why these two are the best makeup brushes for full coverage makeup! And if you’re on a beauty budget then knowing you can get the full look you want (including contour) with just these two brushes is kind-of a no-brainer!

How To Find The Right Makeup Shades For Full Coverage

Now that you know the best products and brushes for full coverage makeup, let’s talk about getting the right shades! When you have the wrong makeup shades, it is a lot harder to get the coverage you’re wanting and obviously just doesn’t look right. I spent too long wearing the wrong foundation shade and hating my makeup. Thankfully for you, I have spent the last 5 years studying faces and skin-tones and have successfully matched hundreds of women to their perfect makeup shades. The best part is a can do it virtually with a selfie! To get your own Seint Beauty shade match, just take my quiz to get personally matched by me within 24 hrs.

If you don’t want to get shade matched, then my advice would be to realize that most faces aren’t one single color/tone. Try to study your face and see the different major tones you have. Most people need at least 2 different highlight (foundation) shades for the best coverage. One main shade for your overall tone and a second for the darker or lighter areas. If you want to get started with Seint Beauty on your own, you can also check out their pre-built Seint makeup collections that is closest to your skintone.

And finally, let’s talk about application! Even with full coverage makeup looks, I still try to keep it natural looking because I truly believe in letting your natural beauty show as much as possible. But let’s be honest, acne and dark under-eyes take the spotlight away from the things that actually show off our beauty like our eyes, our flushed cheeks, our freckles, our cute smile lines, ect. So when applying my makeup, I like to do a lighter all over application of my main highlight shades and then go in with a smaller brush to get the fuller coverage where it’s actually needed. My other tip for keeping a natural look while still getting coverage is to keep your eyes light. Go for neutral eyeshadow shades and skip the eyeliner. Also go for a lighter natural flush color of blush and a soft lip to complete your look! And again, using cream foundation, contour, and blush products will really help give that dewey skin-like finish that looks way more natural than liquid or powder alternatives.

Wear Makeup How You Want To

At the end of the day, makeup is so variable to each individual and you ultimately need to wear what YOU love and makes you feel confident. For you, that may mean no makeup, just mascara and blush, or a full coverage look with all the things. My only goal is to help you find the best products that help you feel beautiful, not to tell you what you HAVE to do or wear. With that being said, if you would like to get started with Seint Beauty and get your shades matched, please take my free beauty routine quiz.
